You made it to the beautiful Kauai and just arrived at the Waipouli Beach Resort. You check into your Kauai oceanfront resort condo and are ready to go explore, but where do you begin? With all the activities and attractions it is hard to know where to start your vacation. Below we have laid out of the best adventures you should take in consideration for your week-long vacation on Kauai.
Day 1 – ALOHA!
How long was your flight? Maybe it took all day, or maybe you just hopped a short flight from one of our sister island of Hawaii. No matter who you are or where you’re visiting from, ALOHA!, you are welcome on our island paradise!
On your first day of arriving, you probably want to take it easy and just enjoy the surroundings. Hang out by the resort pool or book a day at the luxury Waipouli Beach Resort spa! Make it a day of self-care and relaxation listing to the waves on the beach with a fruity cocktail in hand and a smile on your face!
Don’t forget to pack a good book for this lazy day, or just stay close to your Kauai condo rental with your family and catch up.
Start Planning Your Vacation
Are you looking for the perfect place to stay? Many of our vacation rentals are located at the Waipouli Beach Resort and Spa on the East Coast of Hawaii, but we have several other condo complexes and accommodations all around the island.
Day 2- Go Explore The West Shore
Explore the Island! On your way to the Westside, we recommend driving up to see the Waimea Canyon. It’s often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”. The views of the canyon are absolutely breathtaking. And while you’re there, keep driving to the end of the road to Koke’e State Park. You’ll be able to see an incredible view of the Kalalau Valley. This is definitely a great day trip and on your way out you can stop in Waimea town for some delicious Jo Jo’s Shave Ice while you make your way back to the other sides of the island.
It is a lot of driving, but you will pass gorgeous scenery and quaint towns along the way where you and your family can spend time exploring and stretching your legs meandering through shops and along one of the many beaches. But this will turn into an all-day adventure, so bring drinks and car snacks to keep you energized.
Day 3- Try a New Adventure
Kauai’s expansive green space and large swaths of protected beach parks and jungle mean that this is one of the best places in Hawaii to get outside and find an adventure. From surfing to booking a helicopter tour, there is something for everyone. A jungle ATV tour is a popular thing to do for families with older kids, but you will get muddy, so pack some clothes you don’t mind throwing away if you don’t want to do laundry on your trip!
Maybe you want to stay on two feet? One of the world’s best hikes is on Kauai! Hiking the Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali coast is definitely a must. If you’re a seasoned hiker and don’t have small children, this hike is a great day hike if you just hike in a few miles to enjoy the gorgeous waterfalls and sites. Not feeling like a hike but want to experience the Na Pali coast, take a boat tour! There are some really incredible tours in the area and you’re able to view the majestic Na Pali cliffs from the sea.
Day 4- Have a Beach Day
Experience Hanalei Town! On the North Shore of Kauai is the quaint Hanalei town. It’s a great town to walk around for shopping and eating delicious food. And of course, there’s the Hanalei Pier nearby boasting gorgeous views of the Hanalei Bay. Definitely a great place to stop if you’re heading to the end of the road, Ke’e Beach Park for a gorgeous Sunset view!
Poipu Beach Park is another great place to spend the day on Kauai. The sunny South Shore offers this great beach for the whole family. There’s swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding and is lifeguard protected. There are also some really delicious places to eat in Poipu, like Brennecke’s and Roy’s.
Day 5- Go Somewhere New
Have you spent all of your time on one part of the island? You’re missing out! There are plenty of beautiful sights to behold just around the river bend! Speaking of, kayaking on the Wailua River is a great way to experience the lush gardens of the east side of Kauai. Take a drive to find a new restaurant or sample all the best Hawaiian shaved ice shops around the island! Explore the coffee planation or play a round of golf at a course you’ve never been to.
Day 6- Can’t Just Have One Beach Day
Exploring the beaches on Kauai is definitely a fun activity. One of our favorite beaches is Anini Beach Park. This is a great beach for all ages and especially for snorkeling. And while you’re up on the North Shore you can head to the Kilauea Lighthouse for a quick tour! There are some amazing views off the north shore cliffs.
Day 7- Take it Easy
Relaxing at Kalapaki Beach may be the best to save for last. Kalapaki is near Lihue Airport, so it’s a great place to hang before catching your flight home. The easy access at this beach and it being right across from the yummy Duke’s restaurant definitely makes Kalapaki a great place to soak up that Kauai sun before heading back to the mainland.
