Planning a vacation to the shores of Kauai is a great way to spend well-deserved quality time with your family. But you might be worried about finding fun family activities on Kauai that both kids and adults alike will enjoy. Luckily, we’ve got some excellent recommendations right here!
See Spouting Horn
Let this be the first thing you look at when you seek some great things to do in Kauai with kids. In fact, for family activities on Kauai, there’s nothing better than the waterspout known as Spouting Horn! Spouting Horn Beach Park is located in Poipu, which is situated on the South Shore of the island. The Spouting Horn — we will warn you — is loud. But it sure manages to keep our attention after all these years! For Kauai things to do, this takes ‘top pick,’ according to most people who have been in the area. And we’d agree with them! Don’t miss this excursion.
Snorkeling at Lydgate Beach Park
Anyone up for a snorkeling session? Why not? You only live once, after all, so why not make it count? If you’re looking for something fun, super easy to learn, and enjoyable for all ages, then this is an excursion event you simply cannot afford to miss. Why? Locals and visitors alike say Lydgate Beach Park is the best spot in the area for snorkeling — not to mention starting your day with a full sunrise. And heck, if you feel cozy while you’re at it, why not just take a moment to snuggle up with that special someone next to you? It’s a perfect moment for a bit of romance with your significant other.
There are likewise plenty of picnic tables in the area that does not even require a reservation — open seating at its best here! Imagine coming out and starting your day watching the sunset, then going snorkeling with your family before settling down with a picnic lunch right there on the shore!

Rent Bikes at Coconut Coasters
When searching Waipouli vacation rentals, in general, have you thought to look into bike rentals as well? Please do, as the cost of getting a bike here (for just an hour or up to a few hours) is so darn affordable that we couldn’t resist mentioning it to you. This is also one of the most fun things you can do when hanging out with your friends or family! Kids especially need the exercise, not to mention a healthy way to burn all that energy or put to good use the ton of sugar their active brains have taken in from that ice cream visit! You know you need to keep them busy and burning that excess energy they have, and this is just the perfect way to do it. Not to mention all the beautiful sights you’ll see along the way!

Take a Ride at the Kilohana Plantation Railroad
This railroad plantation area spans a total of 105 acres, and when you measure that up, it’s plenty of room for you to walk around in and explore. This classic railroad is all about exploration, and you just cannot visit Kauai without checking it out. You can even book your train ride for less than $20 ($19.50 plus a little tax, to be exact). And for a child’s admission, it’s even less, of course — just $14. Infants 3 and younger are free! And this special train just so happens to depart every single hour, on the hour, starting at 10 a.m. For Tuesday and Friday departures, that last time slot is at 4:30 p.m. Every other day, it ends at 2 p.m.
