Aloha from Paradise! We get a lot of people asking us, “when is the best time to book my Kauai vacation?” and “how early should I book flights?” We decided to give everyone the inside scoop on the best times to visit the island and when to book your flight.
“When is the best time to book my Kauai vacation?”
We consider the high season to be spring-summer and of course around the holidays. Consistently, every year our condos book up early for December through the beginning of January. Many families travel during this time. February also books out months in advance. Summer months (June-August) are also a busy time, as families plan their vacations to Hawaii during this time.
Travelers seeking quieter times of the year to visit Kauai should consider coming in April- May or September through early December, which are the low season times.
“How early should I book my flight to Kauai and where can I find a deal?”
Flights are always a huge factor when visiting Kauai. If you can find a cheap flight, we recommend snatching them and booking your accommodations. (We post flight deals we find on our Facebook page , so be sure to like us.).
Some traveler’s book a year to 9 months in advance, which guarantees them the accommodations they want. Other travelers book 6 months in advance, which usually they are able to find the accommodations they want or at least something similar. Then there are the travelers who book 3 months or less in advance, which is when accommodations become less available and sometimes harder to find. Lastly, there are some travelers who get tricked into thinking that the prices will be a lot lower if they wait and book at the last minute. This can be true sometimes, but generally it’s not the case (and if they do find a flight, accommodations can be harder to find).
Two of the main airlines that fly onto the island of Kauai are Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines, both focusing on flights from the west coast and offering competitive pricing. Other airlines that fly to Kauai include Allegiant Air, American, Delta, and United.
The cities that tend to have increased competition, allowing travelers to benefit with cheaper flights to Kauai include: San Jose, Oakland, Portland, Seattle, and San Diego.
